pegging

Another classic that is similar to sliding blocks puzzles. Peg Solitaire.

Once you get onto boards other than the classic cross shape things get really exciting. Peg solitaire on a torus!

I am wondering if anyone has ever thought about combining peg solitaire and sliding block puzzles? In other words a confined board where blocks can not slide if spaces are occupied by either other blocks or by pegs. I think this would add interest because unlike classical block sliding puzzles you would have pieces that get removed [the pegs]. Pegs would also be able to jump over blocks that are only 1 unit in width [as pegs are] but these blocks would not get removed.

The ‘solution’ could then be either to leave a peg in a certain position [as in peg solitaire] get a block to a certain position [as in sliding block puzzles] or both.

Hmm!
