one-off at the wrist

Wanting to take at least a one day a week breather from threshing, I thought Sundays might be a good opportunity to simply post an ‘Out to Lunch’ sign. This however got me to thinking about the last time I could remember actually seeing an ‘Out to Lunch’ sign? Or a ‘Back in 5 minutes’ sign?

I guess such things are synonymous with small and/or independent traders?  Relics of a bygone slower paced age, now only to be seen if you get off at certain train stops in the Twilight Zone?

So from next week, Sundays [&onthe7thday] will be a celebration of all things ‘signage’ in the broadest sense of the term [from still extant hand painted advertisements to Neon to the latest digital billboards] that I might happen across in my usual weekly peregrinations.

In the meantime here’s an interesting article on Ghost Signs.
